In 2021, at the height of the pandemic, we were running out of room in our duplex. (Work and school from home were taking their toll). We have worked with Nate and Alyssa on several projects since 2018. We began with renovating 1 bathroom, then another before replacing floors (1300sq ft) and kitchen cabinets. A few years later, we completed the full renovation of a 4br/3ba apartment, including flooring, bathrooms, kitchen and windows.

What we really liked about working with Comstocks:

* We're not good with design and don't like having too much choice - we were able to look through Houzz, "star" designs that we liked and Alyssa was able to synthesize that and propose a short list of options for us to choose from when it came to things like flooring, tiles, fixtures as well as having a dialog around price/quality trade-offs.

* They handled all permits and any other interactions with the city.

* Great deal of cost transparency ahead as well as during the projects so there were few cost surprises during/after the project. Where we chose to change materials or design, the cost implication was made transparent to us.

* When they changed the floors, we went away for the entire project and could fully trust that they would take care of our home/possessions while we were away.

* Ownership after the project - there are inevitably things that needed fixing after the fact e.g. a thermostat broke 2wks after project hand-over - they stayed in contact and there was no danger of them moving onto the next project and becoming unavailable.

* Our latest project was November 2022 - March 2023, during a time where supply chain and labor/materials shortages were aplenty. They delivered the 3-4month project in such a way that we could move in 2wks ahead of schedule and complete other works after move in without too much disruption.
